With the LeisureWool ReBorn shirt, Aclima has found a new and innovative way to recycle wool and reprocess wool offcuts. The high-class merino wool scraps that Aclima uses for the new generation of LeisureWool shirts come from fabric offcuts from their own sewing factory in Estonia. These are shredded and processed into new threads. The LeisureWool ReBorn shirt consists of 70% recycled Merino wool and 30% recycled polyamide (GRS certified) - a mixture that guarantees durability and functionality. The shirt is as sustainable as possible down to the smallest detail: the synthetic fibers that ensure the garment lasts longer are recycled. The buttons are made from coconuts instead of plastic, and even the sewing threads are made from recycled material. In addition, the garment is not re-dyed but retains the colour of the leftover material, saving both water and chemicals. This is how Aclima‘s closeness to nature can be seen in every single product. A valuable and sustainable all-round garment for outdoor and everyday use.
It is generally a unisex product. Unique quality with maximum functionality and durability. In addition, the shirt offers comfort and style with perfect fitting for women. (Fit is different from the men’s versio) Aclima has been working with high-quality merino wool for more than 80 years and appreciates the natural resource, so it has been a matter of course from the very beginning that the surplus material is also recycled. A plus point that the end consumer appreciates.

In 2020, Aclima achieved a real breakthrough in recycling wool material in cooperation with two renowned companies from the Italian „fabric capital“ Prato: 100% wool off-cuts from our company‘s own production in Estonia were sorted by color and sent to Prato for processing. Filati Omega processed these scraps into a new yarn, and Pontetorto subsequently wove the material. Several trials were necessary, first with pure wool, then with the addition of recycled polyamide, to find a blend that was robust and functional for both production and the end consumer. The final result is a blend of 70% recycled merino wool and 30% recycled polyamide. The wool is not re-dyed, but the colors result from the combination of the offcuts, the mélange effect is created by the addition of the recycled polyamide. From this material we subsequently make our soft and comfortable ReBorn shirts. The number of shirts produced depends on the amount of material available. In the first production series, we made 7,000 shirts from 6 tons of waste material.
